Giving Respect To A Pair Of Prolific 1970s Bands

When I think back to the greatest decades in music history

, the 1970s always make the top of my list. I know that people tend to wrongly put the past on a pedestal, and they definitely do this with music.

When it comes to the music from this decade, they're right though. This was a special era in the history of music that I really appreciate, and I know that I'm not alone in my opinion about this.

There are certain bands whose music served as the framework for the sounds of many other groups of the future. In fact, there are new bands that emerge every year whose sounds are reminiscent of the two groups that I'm about to cite.

One of the most underrated bands in rock history is the band that was actually known by that name. The Band was a group with a unique sound for the time, and their name comes from the fact that they used to be Bob Dylan's backup band.

The Americana genre has been hugely popular for decades now, and much of it has to do with this band's sound. They were the pioneers of this music style, and I still believe that no one's managed to do it as well as they did.

Another often forgotten rock band from the 70s whose name rarely comes up on the list of the decade's best bands is ELO. Jeff Lynne and the rest of the crew had a truly unique sound, one that few bands have been able to replicate to this day.

This is a band that penned dozens of popular hits, yet few people even know their name. Some of their songs are so commonplace that you'd be shocked you didn't know of them if you heard their music.

The sounds of classic rock fused with space age electronic sounds and symphonic classical music describe the sound of this band. They're as interesting as that sounds.
