Giving the gift of laughter
Life can sometimes be quite harsh, so why not give the gift of laughter whenever you get a chance? Making someone laugh is not only heartwarming and uplifting, but can also be quite therapeutic.
There are many ways to make someone giggle. For example, if your potential recipient loves to read, start a collection of funny articles or comics you cut out of newspapers and magazines. Place them in a loose-leaf binder, or create a nice scrapbook, which you may, or may not embellish with suitable decorations. This gift will not only bring numerous enjoyable moments, but will also shows how much you care.
A lot of people like comedy, and what better way to tell your father, sister, best friend or co-worker how special they are, than by giving them funny videos or DVDs. Pick movies that include their favourite actors, or old slapstick motion pictures. Wrap them in newspaper cartoons and it will be hilarious from start to finish.
Gag gifts are the ultimate present for those folks with a decent, or warped, sense of humor. Most everyone knows about whoopee cushions, fart spray, talking toilet paper, magic relighting birthday candles, fake grenades, bald head wigs, or T-Shirts with unusual pictures and slogans. It is a great way to start a party and spiral the mood into the right direction.
If you know the type of humor the gift recipient likes, look for books in that genre. Most types can be found online, and bookstore clerks are generally also very helpful in helping you find exactly what you need. Don't forget to add a funny wish card and don't hesitate to create your own if you cannot find what you are looking for. Nothing beats a personalized and home-made sentiment.
Aside from funny tees, and ridiculous ties and hats, there are many other clothing items that can launch a heartfelt roar. Inspiring designers have come up with the most unusual underwear, crazy pants and funky jackets. Bizarre garments are often found in second-hand boutiques, flea markets and antique stores.
Those who are familiar with specific computer programs can put together a montage of funny old video clips, or can use their imagination and skill to "upgrade" some old photographs. If that is not your talent you can always take a picture of the gift recipient to a cartoonist and ask the artist to make a sketch based on the picture. The result may look silly, but will certainly be much appreciated.
Another great way to gift laughter is by offering your parents, siblings, or good friends, tickets to a comedy club, murder mystery, or dinner theater. Some shows are side-splittingly funny and will even invite the audience to participate.
If you cannot decide on just one single gift, you can always put a gift hamper together, adding any or all of the above mentioned suggestions. Wrap everything separately so every gift will bring a new surprise and even more giggles. Before you know it, everyone will be rolling on the floor, and you will be the hero... well, at least until the next party!
