Glastonbury Tickets Information
The Glastonbury Festival (Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts) is the biggest outdoor music and performing arts festival in the world. People attend this event mostly because of the famous musicians that perform but other performing arts are also available. Dance, comedy, cabaret, and theatre are only some of the other arts included in this wonderful festival. People come from all over the world just to experience this festival.
The number of attendees is about 130,000. Although a lot more would like to attend, the organizers decided not to offer more tickets because of security problems. This festival is held for three days and is now an annual event. The venue for the Glastonbury Festival is Worthy Farm in Southwest England. This is a functional farm between the villages Pylle and Pilton a couple of miles east of Glastonbury.
1970 was the first time that the Glastonbury Festival initially started. It was the brainchild of Michael Eavis who is the owner of Worthy Farm. He had the idea of starting his own music festival after attending a popular festival in the early 60's. During the first year of his festival, about 1,500 people attended for the price of about a Euro each.
He ended up losing a lot of money but was satisfied because of the huge number of people who attended. The festival was held almost every year after that but wasn't quite successful but gained a following. The number of people who attended increased every time the festival was held and. Now more than 130,000 people attend the event yearly and the cost of Glastonbury tickets is about 195 Euros each.
The founder and organizer of the Glastonbury Festival (Michael Eavis) give away most of the multi-million annual revenue of the event to charities and local housing projects. This is the reason why most artists offer their services for a portion of their usual talent fees. Some even spend a lot of money just to perform during the festival. Michael Eavis could be a very rich man if he decided to keep all the profits but he prefers to live a simple life and just use the money for causes he believes in.
