In addition, some of the implicit symptoms can be detectable only by eye doctors. They contain high intraocular pressure, reduced visual fields and damaged optic nerve.

In fact, many people have heard of glaucoma although some of them do not know its details. Among the implicit symptoms of glaucoma, increased or abnormally high intraocular pressure in the eye is nearly the most decisive factor of the disease. Without proper external interference, the eye pressure can rise to dangerous levels. In an early stage, only peripheral vision is affected. If glaucoma is left untreated, it will gradually damage the optic nerve and lead to blindness as an extreme case.

Glaucoma even has indirect relation with LASIK surgery which is widely used to correct certain vision defects. LASIK procedure involves removing a little corneal tissue. Individuals have normal cornea thickness can maintain its curve against the high pressure caused by glaucoma. Unfortunately, some glaucoma patients have thinner corneas so that they are not eligible to LASIK surgery. This is simply because a thin cornea can not hold itself against the pressure generated by the naturally occurring eye fluids. Receiving LASIK in this case means weakening the thin cornea in a further step.
