Global Interest In Bob Dylan Prints

Signed Bob Dylan prints were in demand from an international audience of art enthusiasts when they went on sale in Britain last month.

The Journal reported that an American man registered his interest in the musician and artist's latest limited edition graphics while playing golf on a course in the States before the prints were available to the general public.

Castle Galleries in Newcastle received the call but were unable to make a sale as the golfer called before 9am on May 22nd when prints from Dylan's Drawn Blank Series went on sale simultaneously across all of the company's outlets.

Rachael Montgomery, art adviser at the gallery, told the newspaper: "You could hear him pause to take a swing at the ball before he started talking again."

Gallery manager Anthony Dorman said that he was not surprised by the level of interest in Bob Dylan prints as there has been great demand for the American's artwork in previous years.

Anthony Dorman revealed that it is not uncommon for art lovers from across the world to buy Dylan's artwork when they go on sale in the United Kingdom.

He told the Journal: "In one case, all 295 prints in an edition sold out inside 20 minutes. Bob Dylan is really massive for all the galleries. We have taken calls about this at crazy hours of the night from places like America and Japan."

Mr Dorman went on to say that interest in Bob Dylan prints was due to the quality of the artwork and not because of his musical legacy.

He told the newspaper: "It isn't just about the signature. Bob Dylan is incredibly serious about his art and we would be selling these even if they weren't by him."

Fans of Bob Dylan will be able to see him perform an array of his famous songs at a festival in Seattle this year.

Bob Dylan will be headlining the Bumbershoot festival between September 4th and 6th, which is celebrating its 40th birthday and will be held at the Seattle Center.

American bands Weezer and Hole are also likely to headline while hip hop star Mary J. Blige and The Decemberists, Rise Against, Neko Case and Ra Ra Riot have also confirmed they will play.

British fans will not have to travel too far to see Bob Dylan as he is set to play the Hop Farm Festival in Kent on July 3rd alongside Pete Doherty, Mumford and Sons, Laura Marling and Seasick Steve.
