The word "globe" is derived from the Latin word "globus" which means sphere or mass

and there is no doubt about the fact that globes provide the best view of the earth as it does not distort either the shape or the size of large features.

In order to show topography, sometimes a globe has a surface texture with exaggerated elevation to make it more visible to us.Although modern globes are imprinted with meridians and parallels to show the approximate coordinates of a specific place.
