Gluten Intolerance - A customer question answered


Gluten Intolerance also called celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder of the small intestine that occurs in genetically predisposed people of all ages from middle infancy onward. It is also recognized as the body's inability to break down gluten. It is identified by symptoms like severe abdominal pain and diarrhoea and occurs several hours after food intake.

A couple of days ago we had a customer question and I thought this would be a great chance to give you some valuable info for no cost.

Here's the question.


"One problem with Celiacs is that they are not absorbing the nutrients they need. My question would be: What types of supplements should we be taking?" - Anonomys

"Now, there's some vitamins that are what they refer to as water-soluble which means that it can be broken down in water. But then there is others that are fat soluble. Now, fat soluble vitamins are harder for people to have that have Celiac Disease. Specifically vitamins A. vitamin D and vitamin K. So if a person is diagnosed with Celiac Disease those are the specific vitamins that I would recommend the person to take at least a daily supplement of them. if they are going to take more of these types of vitamins they of course need to consult with their medical professional about this because you know even vitamins could be toxic at higher levels."

"When picking those sorts of vitamins one of the things that I always recommend is that they read the labels to make sure that there's no gluten products inside of it. There's many different supplements on the market that are gluten free or at least they will say it's wheat free. Celiac Disease is becoming much more known and as a result manufacturers are putting gluten-free on their labels more and more often."
