1.Before you think of applying, you need to see the GMAT colleges that you can apply too. Every year, there is marginal or steep increase in the score requirements, and hence, try to calculate the average score that you would need to apply to the desired colleges. It is likely that for most prestigious colleges will ask you for a decent score of 700 or above, but you can still apply with score above 600 to a few ones that are famed.

2.It is advisable that GMAT studies must be started at least a few months ahead. If you can start early, you can manage even within a few hours of studies every day. You need to chalk out a plan that will work for a few months. Unless you are willing to take professional course help, you need to decide the kind of study plan you require.

3.While self studying for GMAT may seem to be sufficient, it may not be so. There are many students who manage to crack GMAT on their own, but if you are a first timer, it is suggested that you opt for professional coaching in all the sections. Writing essays may not come easy to you as most Indian students are used to objective questions that come in CAT and MAT. As such, taking some help from subject experts on writing meaningful and well defined essays is essential.


4.The verbal section is most tricky aspect of all the three sections. You need to ensure that you have taken help on the same as the critical reasoning questions that form almost one third of the entire verbal section are difficult to crack. There are certain coaching centers in cities like Bangalore and Chennai where you can get exclusive verbal section training and coaching.

5.Registering for GMAT is not essential unless you are well prepared for the same. Fix the time when you want to take the test, and in case, you are not sure about your level of understanding, it is advisable that you wait for some more.
