We are all aware of the damage we have been doing to our planet and to our own species

. Luckily, the number of people taking more responsibility and becoming proactive is growing quickly. Recycling, new models of cars that are low mileage or electric, the reduction of aerosol spray and pesticides, our food sources becoming healthier, etc.

When a new baby arrives, we now have more choices in introducing him/her to a healthier environment, not only because of our accumulated knowledge, but because that knowledge allows us to protect our youngest members from the first day they arrive. Your infant can be wrapped in safe, chemical-free blankets, and placed in a crib of natural materials instead of bedding made from our misuse of chemicals.

Finding organic baby bedding is not difficult any more. Petroleum, the base of most of the contaminents used in most commercial baby bedding, can't be washed out and neither can the pesticides, harmful dyes, and heavy metals that conventional, even brand named, baby bedding contain. We want soft cotton to touch our infants pure skin, yet the cotton itself carries enough contaminents to frighten any new mother. Five of the nine components of the pesticides used in growing cotton, cyanazine, dicofol, naled, propargite, and trifluralin are known to be cancerous.

The good news is that you can find baby bedding and other products that are made from organic cotton. Organic cotton is grown without pesticides, toxins, or synthetic fertilizer, so none of these substances will be touching your baby. The "finishing" process is softly scrubbed in warm water with soda ash, as opposed to the finishing of non-organic cotton with hot water and chemicals including arsenic. Organic cotton bedding are softened with a natural soy substance, as opposed to the petroleum-based softening used by most baby material manufactures. The commercial manufacturers use chemical dyes that can have side effects, such as serious allergies. Manufacturers of organic baby bedding use low-impact fiber-content or natural dyes.

In addition to keeping your baby safe and healthy, if you use organic bedding, etc., you're doing the same for the environment. You aren't spreading toxins in the earth and water supply, as well as on your infant.

Organic cotton is hypo-allergenic. So when you gently put your baby down in her crib, amongst her bedding, if you use chemical-free bedding, you know you have succeeded in your first step of protecting your infant. You can check out cheap bedding for more buying guides.
