Goa one of the most beautiful tourist destinations is famous for its beaches, nightlife and churches. Besides that it is also a paradise for food lovers. While on a tour of Goa one cannot resist the mouth-watering local cuisines. This state offers a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.

The cuisines of Goa are very much influenced form the Portuguese and Hindu and Muslim Kingdoms and has many flavors like its land. Due to the abundance of sea Goa is famous for its sea food. Fish is the most popular dish of this region. Fish, rice and curry are the three most important food items in the diet of people. Apart from fish crustaceans, shrimps lobster, squid and prawns are also popular among local people.

Traditional Christian cuisines of Goa:

Some of the popular food items of this state are Ambot tik, Balchao, Sanna, Vindaloo, Bebinca, Patteo and Samarein Chi Kodi.

Traditional Hindu Cuisines:

The hindu dishes mainly include fish as the main food item and are less spicy. These are fish curry or Human, Fried fish, Kismur, Dangar, Kalputi, Bhaji, Tondak and different varieties of sweet made from rice like Aatwal and Payasa.

For Vegetarian Food: Shiv Sagar, Hotel Vrindavan, Moonlight and Annapurna Restaurant are the most preferred destinations.

For Non-vegetarian Food:
