A sudden surge in the amount of visitors the country enjoyed from the UK and other

parts of the European Union in 2008/09 may result in more long-term interest in moving to Turkey, whether simply to set up home, or to develop an existing business.

The growth in its popularity came about as many sought holiday destinations which offered better value, at a time when the euro currency was at its strongest and before debt crises hovering like a dark cloud over EU member countries significantly weakened the single currencys standing.

For a time in that period, the country enjoyed a golden harvest of bumper income from these many additional visitors. And while, for many of these, their attraction to the country will have been short-lived, many others may have been inspired to either look to make a more permanent move there, or to explore the potential rewards Turkey could offer them from a business perspective.

Turkey has been enjoying its lowest levels of inflation for a generation, largely as a result of banking reforms and a tightening of fiscal policy, making it an attractive proposition once again for companies with products or services to offer which are in demand among the countrys people.

The tourism boom has seen the number of flights to Turkey increase rapidly, thereby opening up communication channels. Booms in the countrys high-tech and engineering sectors especially automotive have brought many opportunities to businesses which at one time might have considered they had little to offer the country.

As a result of its long coastline, sea freight to Turkey has seen substantial expansion, and the country now has some of the busiest ports along the entire north African coast, bringing the double benefit of substantial revenues, and easy access for international freight.

Turkeys agricultural industry produces a wide range of goods which find ready markets elsewhere. These include grain, sugar beet, tobacco, pulses and livestock, which have all helped improve the prospects for many of the countrys farmers. In turn, the growing sophistication the farmers working methods has opened opportunities for suppliers to the sector to capitalise on the availability of express delivery to Turkey and boost their own fortunes.

As more people learn about a country once looked upon with suspicion by Europe, so the opportunities available grow helped to a large degree by the keenness of many delivery companies to add Turkey to the list of destinations they serve.
