God Was Putting All The Pieces Together

Ginger: what's happening behind us is one example of several brand-new centers that

will help the entire village as well as house orphans that are happening throughout Cambodia. How many of those are being built because of "hope Cambodia"?

David Meyer: there are a total of 15 what we are calling hope centers. It's really just a combination of -- some of them are church buildings, some of them are just meeting places for the community but every one of them has a children home orphanage component to them so kids will live there who are orphans. We will do feeding programs out of about nine of those.

Ginger: When the children come here who are orphans it totally revolutionizes their lives, doesn't it? It really gives them a brand-new start at life.

David Meyer: Oh yes. The level of poverty in this country is just overwhelming. We're doing medical camps while we're here. The average Cambodian only sees a doctor once every three years. One of the great things about these homes is we'll be able to pull people out of that and they'll be able to not have to deal with their teeth rotting and their hunger issues and their lack of medical care. So yes, absolutely, those hundreds of kids that we're going to be able to help through these homes, their lives are going to be totally transformed.

Joyce Meyer Ministries: One of the reasons we've gotten into medical missions is because I had a complication from a surgery that I had a few years back. As I lay on the couch in my misery, I started thinking about what would it be like to be in a village in India or Africa with no medical help? How long would it take you to die from this and what would it be like and what kind of pain would you go through? At that very moment it was like this desire rose up in me to do medical clinics. As God would have it, the man who runs our office in India had been offered a bunch of hospital equipment from Samaritan's purse shortly before that and had no idea what he would do with it, and somebody had also asked him to take over a hospital that had previously been a Methodist hospital that had been closed for several years and said "if you'll open this and run it, we'll give it to you." So here God was putting all the pieces together and then he used this situation that I was in -- didn't cause it but used it to provoke enough compassion in me to say: hey, let's do something about this.
