Going On A First Date? Not Sure Where To Go?

For some reason, a high proportion of people seem to think that going to see a movie is a good idea for a first date

. Quite why doing something where you sit almost perfectly still, generally in silence, for over 2 hours would be a good idea for a first date is beyond me! This article is for those of you who would like some help trying to decide where to go on that all important first date:

Amusement park: (Almost) everybody loves going to an amusement park, right? This is a great first date location as the whole emphasis is on fun, helping both parties to get over any first date nerves and feel relaxed and carefree. The only slight issues to bare in mind are rides that can make you feel ill and the possibility of long queues, but apart from that this is an excellent choice.

Street fair: A street fair on a nice day, sun shining, lots of new and different things to see and do, lots of conservation starters - perfect! If it's a winter first date then other alternative events which offer a similar feel include county fairs, indoor shows and zoos; anything where there is interest, where you can walk around and other people are unlikely to interrupt your conversations.

Walks: A walk might sound dull to some (younger) ears, but depending on the location this can be a great, free, first date idea. Walks can be anywhere pleasant, preferably with good views, but for a first date you should stick to places with plenty of other people around.

Museums: A museum is a fine choice for a first date - endless things to talk about whilst wondering through the building and usually with somewhere to grab a snack too. With all the different things to see you are going to struggle to have any awkward silent moments and you will learn some new facts whilst getting to know your date.

Auctions: An auction might sound like an unusual first date venue but they can fun to witness at first hand, or even get involved with if you see a item that takes your eye. You could even bid on something to give to your date as a fun gift to remember the date with - just don't spend too much!

Other outdoor activities: There are many activities to participate in outdoors which can all make excellent first date ideas. Music concerts, sports events, picnics, boating lakes, cycle parks can all be ideal for the first date. Being outside helps to make the date relaxed and fun, and if you are doing an activity there is less stress about what to wear! The key is choosing something which you think both you and your date are likely to enjoy.

Other indoor events: An outdoor activity in the cold or in the rain isn't so appealing but luckily there are plenty of other great indoor venues like art exhibitions, wine tasting events, antique shows, theatre productions, car shows and aquariums that can be great fun and in the warm!

Hopefully this has got you thinking about more first date ideas, and with any luck soon you'll be trying to decide where to go on the second date! Good Luck!
