Going On Vacation, Your Style

Going on vacation means something different to everyone

. For some it conjures up sunsets on the beach, a day spent laying in the sun reading, relaxation and refreshment. For others a vacation includes adrenalin rushes with rock climbing, river rafting, horse riding or scaling a mountain, some love to go visit distant relatives, visiting and catching up. I personally prefer sight seeing vacations. I love to go to new places and experience different tastes, food, cultures, people and sights. The older, the more history, the better for me.

Lounging on a beach somewhere sunny and warm is the vacation that some people dream of year round, or to sit on a cruise ship being waited on hand and foot. Bring sunscreen in bulk and bask like a lizard on a rock. Right now, sitting here in my sweater and slippers at my computer my hands freezing that actually doesn't sound too bad. I could use a little rest and relaxation, I think. But after a few days I get restless and want to go see something, do something. I think I have too much ADHD to sit around for very long not being productive! But for beach bums, go and enjoy and don't forget to take a long walk at sunset.

Visiting relatives is at the bottom of the vacation list for me. I like to go where I want when I want and get so impatient waiting for other people to make up their minds, eat and get ready every day. We went with 25 relatives to Colorado last summer, while the trip was fun I think we spend 4 hours a day just waiting for people to get themselves and children ready. I love the relatives, love to spend time with them, but it doesn't often feel very vacationy.

My ideal vacation is to visit old ruins in Europe, explore an abandoned castle, rustle through an art museum or learning something from history. I love to eat new foods, see new things, explore and meet new people. My ideal vacation includes long days of endless walking and sight seeing, good food and mingling with the people on the streets at night.

We have friends that if there isn't a total adrenaline rush, it isn't a vacation. They rank their vacations by which are the most dangerous or the most thrilling. This is not my ideal, but I am glad there are those that do enjoy them.

Whatever your vacation choice is, take along bulk sunscreen, make it oxybenzone free and have the adventure or rest of a life time whether that includes relatives, castles, scaling walls or sitting on a beach.
