No matter what else happens, one cannot stay in campus dorms forever
. Not only is it impractical, but sooner or later it will seem the same as living in Moms attic at thirty five. Everyone needs to grow and have a place of their own. However, this does not mean that one has to go straight from the dorms to a house somewhere in town.
Texas Tech University offers apartments for its students who are tired of the nonsense that is inescapable in dorm life. This is a good step between the dorms and having ones own house to take care of. It will help anyone get a feel for the increased responsibilities and tasks needed with more independent housing.
Of course, Texas Tech University apartments have a definite advantage in that they are still very close to campus. This can make a difference, because transit time has to be taken into account when heading out to the first classes of the day. The benefits of having an apartment would seem quite small if one always missed classes because of it.
However, once proximity to the university has been established, living in an apartment becomes much better than the dorms. One does not have to put up with nearly as much insanity or the foul smells provided by the more wild practitioners of dorm life. It basically lets one life comfortably while going to school, free of the restrictions every dorm has in abundance, and of the students who make a science of violating those restrictions.
