5 Reasons You Should Learn To Surf On The Gold Coast

1. The weather on the Gold Coast is fantastic all year round. This means that the ocean is enticing all year round. So the chances are that if you come to the Gold Coast to improve your surfing, the weather will encourage you to keep getting out there and practise for your entire holiday. 2. There is a massive range of surf breaks catering to most swell directions and most levels of competence. This means that no matter what your standard of surfing, there is a surf break appropriate for your level of riding. If you are a beginner, try the inside sections of Rainbow Bay or Currumbin Alley. If you are looking for long point break waves with barrels, Snapper Rocks, Currumbin Alley and Burleigh Heads are good choices. If you are looking for faster, flying waves, the beach breaks at Duranbah or between Miami and the Spit are perfect.

4. The water temperature is always nice, never less than 19 Celsius. This means you do not need to wear super thick wetsuits constricting your arms, making paddling a nuisance. It flows then that you will be able to spend more time in the water, practising your new skills.

5. Competition among surf coaching on the Gold Coast is fierce. This means prices are always reasonable, if you take the time to shop around a little. So don't ring the first surf school and book in. Ring around a bit, ask about class sizes, instructor qualifications and prices. Make sure you book the best surf lesson you can afford.
