Golden Retriever Issues: How To Solve Them

Golden Retrievers are renowned for their friendly and compassionate behaviour. It is no wonder they are one of the most beloved pets in the world. Unfortunately, it's easy to forget that they have animal instincts and as such can cause issues similar to that of other dogs. Below are common Golden Retriever issues you may encounter, and what to do about them.

Violent behavior

Aggressive behaviour isn't something we usually associate with Golden Retrievers, although it is more common than we would like to think. However, though aggressive behaviour from this type of dog is not common, it is becoming slightly more so as of recently.

By far the biggest reason thought to be due to this increased aggressive behaviour is down to breeding. Another cause is often times lack of exercise. As Golden's are so energy bound, if they don't get their exercise they can vent their aggression out.

The best known way to solve this problem is to exercise your Golden Retriever regularly. You can do this in many ways from playing with them or simply walking them each morning. Your dog needs to know you are the leader of the pack if this is to work.

Neuroses

Another one of the common Golden Retriever issues is neuroses, usually in the form of scratching, digging, eating or snarling. Regular exercise is the solution to this regular problem.

One or two hours per day of exercise will be more than sufficient to remedy this problem.

If you cannot dedicate this amount of time to your dog then you may wish to look for a different breed of dog.A second dog is often times a great way to solve many of the most common Golden Retriever issues.

Anxiety Problems

Golden Retriever issues can also include separation anxiety, and can be a sign that they are getting too much attention when you're coming home or leaving home.

Symptoms of separation anxiety can range from barking and biting when your not around, to destroying your home in an attempt to get attention.

Both your dog and your house will suffer from this type of issue which makes it a huge threat to your well being also.To remedy this issue you must teach your dog, preferably from a young age that attention seeking is not the answer.

The Golden Retriever issues in this article are very common, they may start off small but if left untreated they can become much worse over time. Make sure you put the suggestions in this article into practice so your Golden has an extremely healthy and happy life.
