Training Your Dog

Want your retriever to be well behaved, then Dog training is the way

Having a dog that's well behaved and does not have behavioral issues is a pleasure for many dog owners. Dogs that are pleasant and well behaved bring a lot of joy to those that possess them and are excellent companions. It is not always the case that your golden retriever has no behavioral problems. However you can understand that there are ways you can use to deal with the behavioral problems that your dog may have. The best known and usually used remedy for dog problems is obedience training. The trick to success is using the right training methods.

There are some ground rules that you have to follow in order to have a smooth training process and increase the chances of success. The very first aspect that you have to take control of is the kind of environment and the influence that your dog is subjected too upon arrival in your house or apartment. Make sure that you maintain a strong hold on your retriever and stop any bad behavior in its beginning stages before it goes out of hand. Inform everyone else in your family or whoever you live with about the rules they need to implement for the dog. The main point in having a strong hand with your dog from the beginning is to make sure that it does not develop bad habits that might be difficult to curtail later on.

You must have control over your dog so that it knows who is in charge. In order for your dog to listen to your instructions you need to have it know that you are the master.Behavioral problems with dogs usually stem from a lack of an established relationship between the dog and owner thus u must make it clear who is in charge.

It is very nearly a certainty that at some point you are going to have to deal with some misbehavior from your dog so the best thing to do is to prepare. You need to prepare yourself and your dog for any future situations and this is best done through good obedience training. This article should help you find the best way to train your pet.

The importance of rules

It is better to train a puppy as it is more impressionable and learns better and faster. If your dog is not a puppy then you should at least start training it as soon as possible to get the best results. Some studies have shown that younger aged retrievers have better learning curves and have had more successful training results. Most dog owners might not understand why they might have to be a little hard on their dogs especially when they look at them and they are all fluffy and cute but look at it this way. When your dog is young don't allow it to do things that you wouldn't want to it to do when it is grown up and older. You should ensure that your dog knows which behavior is unacceptable such as biting furniture or going after guests or the postman.

being consistent

Being consistent is not easy.Planning what you are going to do is never a problem its just the part about getting it done that most people really can never get to.Inconsistency for all intensive purposes will result in an unsuccessful training process.Do not be afraid to sharply reprimand your dog for any unbecoming behavior and make sure you straight away illustrate the right thing to do. This should be done for all types of training methods you employ.Being patient is a must when you are training your dog.

An effective method that most users use in training their golden retrievers is reward based training.Golden retrievers like pleasing their masters and showing appreciation when they do so will result in them repeating the behavior that leads to the attention or the reward. Praising your dog or giving it attention are good rewards. This has been proved to be very successful so i suggest you go give it a try and see how it pans out for you.

It is never easy to train a golden retriever so do not expect to go through a fast and non stressful process. The results are worth the effort, so persevere until your dog is well trained and behaved and a delight.
