Not too long ago, there was an article posted about the hidden dangers of allowing your pet on your bed. Thevery place where you sleep. Was the article meantas a scare tactic or are there true hidden dangers if we allow our Goldendoodle, or any pet, tosleep on our bed ? Ofcourse we all know how the media enjoys making a monster out of such news. Before we knew it, this information was all over the internet and being spread around most channels!

Many articles are irresponsible when it comes tospreading such information. How can we trust whether it is trueor not ? Is it really dangerous ifweallow our Goldendoodle to cuddle at night with us, while we sleep ? For years, I have allowed my dogs to sleep on my bed. I'm still here. I have gone quite unscathed. But what about someone whodoesn't take very good care of their pets ?If the dog owner does not pay attention to fleas or does not deworm their doodle, then perhaps there could be a problem.

To just say "don't let your Goldendoodle sleep in your bed because it could cause serious problems" would be like telling you not to get into your car because you MIGHT have a serious car accident! We ALL know that if we get behind the wheel of our car and drive it beyond our drive way, we could get into a serious accident. Heck, I recall when I was 15 years old and just learning to drive, I accidentally put myfive speed car in first gear instead ofreverse and ran right intothe back bumper of my mother's car IN the driveway! So... accidents can happen as soon as you turn on the ignition!

Articles sometimes are meant to get your attention and that is why they are sensationalized by the media. If you take care of your Goldendoodle; ensure that he or she is up to date with their vaccinations; ensure they are dewormed and ensure they have no parasites, there is no reason why your lovely low shedding hybrid can not cuddle with you at night or any time on the bed! Some doodle owners were talking about finding a new home for their dog simply because they felt it was dangerous having a dog in their home, after they had heard the story on the news about dogs sleeping on a bed! Spreading hurtful, inaccurate information that is sensationalized to get attention is plain and simple wrong. Accordingto the article that was spreading such inaccurate information, it was even dangerous to kiss your dog! When I was a child, I use to allow my dog to lick one side of my popsicle while I licked the other. I am still here...breathing and kicking! I still kiss my dogs' face. It is not dangerous to kiss your dog. Not if your dog is healthy.

The problem with such articles is that they only tell part of the story. They do not tell the whole truth! What the media should tell you is that walking outside is dangerous. If you walk outside, YOU could be killed. If YOU walk outside and walk out into traffic, a car will hit you and you will be killed. But the media only covers part of the story and that is what they did with the article aboutit being dangerousallowing your pet to sleep in your bed. They took a small part of the story and pieced it together and ran with it.

The media is well aware that when peoplesearch for things, they scan. They do not read. That has been a huge problem for years. That is just the nature of being human. Some people only scan headlines. Some zero in on specific words. Down far into the article, of course, it will say "kissing your pet and becoming ill is RARE".But the damage has already been done. That piece of important information was not put out there in the beginning. It was embedded deep down into the article. The person who wrote the inaccurate article already caused the damage. Shame on them.

The truth is, everything is dangerous to humans and pets alike, in the world. There are dangers that we can not even see with the naked eye. Should we isolate ourselves and live in a bubble ? I think not. Of course it is possible to spread diseases from one person to another. We can do this with a hand shake; a kiss; through sexual contact; through a sneeze; a cough and through a simple sharing of a glass of water. Humans can spread diseases to their Goldendoodle as well as other pets just as their Goldendoodle and other pets can spread diseases back to them. We just have to use common sense and caution.

There are millions of pet owners who sleep with their pets and as the Goldendoodle becomes ever more popular, more and more owners will be allowing them to sleep on their bed. I am very positive that catching a disease from their Goldendoodle sleeping on their bed will not happen and if it does happen, it will be a rare occurance.
