The vital component that keeps your golf trolley running efficiently is your golf trolley batteries
. Golfers who want to enjoy the services of the golf trolley efficiently should definitely take utmost care in maintaining their golf trolley batteries too. Some golfers must have often seen golf cart batteries destroyed without ever being used in less than a year. A lack of knowledge about basic golf cart battery maintenance is the reason for all kinds of such problems.
Some users assume that the batteries that operate their golf carts are maintenance-free. However, the key to achieving optimum performance and long life is a solid golf cart battery maintenance program. This article will give you some useful information about maintaining your golf trolley battery.
Let us first understand the battery charger. Initially the charger is plugged into the mains. It should first show a green light. Further if then plugged into the battery it should show a red light indicating charging in progress. Once the light turns green, this means that the battery is fully charged.
If the battery is fully charged, all three lights on the charger should be on with the golf trolley at rest, this indicates full charge. In case the trolley is in motion, it can be quite normal for the battery to show a lower power on use. When the trolley battery at rest indicates a permanent two lights (red -low & orange - medium) this means you have 50% power left and should be careful. If the trolley gets to only one light showing at rest, you are on low reserve power and it is recommended that you dont use your trolley.
Another most common mistake that most golfers commit is that that they do not charge their batteries to their required levels. While charging the electric golf trolley batteries always remember never to run the battery fully down and out. Our golf trolleys usually have a warning system and self diagnosis feature which will warn you if your battery charge is becoming too low. If you still persist on running the trolley with the low battery, then the trolley will eventually start to slow down and this may ultimately damage your battery. As a result of running the battery on lower power, the battery will not be able to get its proper full charge as specified. This action will damage most batteries and reduce their life time within a short span of time.
