The idea of playing with one club is not to reduce your handicap, although in some cases that's exactly what will happen, the idea is that you will get to know that golf club inside out. You'll learn all its capabilities, how it plays, long shots, short chips, different grips and any fears you may have conceived from passed experience will disappear. It won't happen on the first hole, it may not happen after eighteen holes, but you keep playing with that one golf club until you have mastered it, then you can move onto the next.
