Golf Fitness-athletic Golf Principles #1
This is my first installment of a series for my Most Important Athletic Golf Principles.Hope
you are all enjoying the remainder of the golfing season (for those in the northern hemisphere predominantly).
The list coming over the next few posts is not conclusive, but certainly as I said important factors to consider if you want to improve your golf swing, strike the golf ball further by increasing club head speed and at the same time increasing accuracy. As well, you will feel less aches and pains, ensuring a better looking and functioning physique that will keep you fit and healthy on and off the golf course for many years.
My first principle that you must follow in order to play the best golf you can and create a powerful smooth golf swing, thus becoming the best version of yourself - which is something that you will hear me bang on about many times over - is:
If you are a golfer you are an athlete too.
Tiger Woods started the common trend with golf and athleticism encompassed within the same sentence.
Many golfers prior to Tiger exploded onto the scene advocating golf fitness and golf training as a major part in his success.Following an efficient Athletic Golf Training program you are guaranteed to increase your drives, accuracy to your short game and shave strokes off your handicap and yeah, you will impress the heck out of your friends!
Now do not be mistaken to think "oh this does not mean me, I don't need to do specific golf fitness, jogging will keep me healthy I just play the odd round of golf for business deals" or "I am not too serious I just play club competitions with my buddies".You still need to be;

flexible
mobile
trim
toned
healthy
Why not look your best, lose some body fat (if needed), tone up, build lean muscle, challenge yourself and also improve your golf shot consistency, swing and work on your golf fitness at the same time?
If any of the above sound like they would interest you, then the first step is to:Start the change.Begin with the mindset, it is a simple thought and question to pose yourself. Can you honestly say you are in the best possible shape you could be in to produce a smooth efficient golf swing? Or even a percentage of it?
The golf swing needs a well-maintained machine to execute the most effective powerful consistent shots.One of the few things you can control in life is your physique. Look after it and use it how we are meant to even on a daily basis; dynamically, multi-directionally and regularly exerted, i.e. pushed beyond relative comfort zones.
Of course this does not necessarily mean that you have to be performing golf fitness training like a Green Bay Packers running back would be training to improve his physique. But it does mean an understanding of bio-mechanics and how it affects the golf swing, and developing corresponding exercises to enhance performance to illicit specific results in golf strength and flexibility which will greatly improve your golf game and indeed health.So no matter your level, experience, golfing ambitions and aspirations, age or gender;If you you are a golfer you are an athlete.
Begin by starting on the road to sensible decisions food-wise as well as introducing a planned golf fitness training program to suit your lifestyle, ability and goals.
