1. Online: An online path means that the arc that your club describes in the course of the swing travels from square at address and remains square through the backswing and throughswing. This swing path requires no manipulation of the club either in the backswing or throughswing and leads to a very efficient swing.
2. Out to in path: This path will lead to a slice and the club travels outside the ball target line in the backswing and approaches the ball from outside the line to inside the line in the throughswing.
3. In to out: This swing path approaches the ball too much from inside the ball target line and travels outside it in the throughswing. This path can be very useful and will produce draws, but these draws can turn into hooks if it is overdone. The ideal swing path is square at address, curves inwards in the backswing and approaches the ball on a square online path through impact. This swing is efficient, requires no manipulation and will lead to your most efficient swinging of the golf club. It will allow you give the ball a good meaty strike rather than the cutting across action that you will suffer from is you swing from out to in.
