Golfers Are More Exposed to Pigmentary Disorders

All of us are exposed to pigment changes, but golfers because of the long hours spent in the sun

, are even more susceptible. One of the most common pigment changes are the appearance of liver spots, age spots and sun spots. By the age of 55, most individuals might expect to have developed at least one age spot, and golfers could expect this earlier. Another sign of aging is dark pigmentation spots and an uneven, blotchy skin tone. Golfers are particularly susceptible to sun spots that appear on the hands, face and neck; areas most exposed to the sun. Dermatologists, doctors and aestheticians are called upon most often to treat these spots.

The greatest single cause that accelerates pigmentary disorders is over exposure to ultraviolet irradiation principally from direct sunlight. Melanocytes which exist deep within the skin are activated by ultraviolet radiation to create a rush of melanin. In time, little melanin pools begin to form beneath the skin and manifest themselves as dark spots in the epidermis which are more commonly known as age spots.

A California dermaceutical company, Med3 Dermaceuticals has been actively researching pigmentary disorders with a view towards preventing age spots from occurring or at least delaying the onset. Med3's skin care products specially formulated for golfers and other outdoor enthusiasts because they are particularly vulnerable to the over exposure of ultraviolet irradiation and its consequences. Med3 offers a concentrated line of products, including the whitening Cream, which avert pigmentary disorders while retaining the skin's natural suppleness and radiance.
