Good Anger Management comes from good Time Management

Good Anger Management comes from good Time Management

As an Anger Management Expert I have noticed a prevalent self-induced problem that creates anxiety, frustration and anger and that problem is time Management. Many people add to their already stressful lives by not managing their time well. They are frequently either rushed or late and don't realize that it has a negative impact on their lives.

When clients tell me they "don't have enough time in their day", I ask them who makes up their schedule. If you plan more activities than you have time for, then you create anxiety and pressure, which can definitely lead to frustration and anger management issues.

A common example is when you don't leave a realistic amount of time to get somewhere. You get in your car and get angry at other drivers and red lights that are slowing you down. Unnecessary "road rage" can be the result and is a common reason many people are ordered to an anger management class. If you can factor in ahead of time possible traffic and other unknown variables the result is a calmer drive. I always plan more time than I think I will need to prevent unnecessary stress.

Poor time management also leads to being chronically late which can impact your life both in social and work situations. Arriving for a job interview with residual anger from your ride is not in your best interest. The people in our lives can feel disrespected or unappreciated when you consistently waste their time or appear to have more important things to do with your time. They can become hurt and angry.

One unfortunate results of poor time management can be a lost job, angering the people we love, or placing ourselves in dangerous situations. We can also appear to be a selfish uncaring person when we are not.

I don't understand why some people are in such a rush. There is all the time we need to successfully accomplish our goals if we plan a realistic schedule each day. Most importantly, we are more peaceful. Instead of increasing our stress, we enhance both our mental and physical health.
