But look at it this way, when you really like something, say a restaurant, you can rave about it for hours to anyone, telling them about the ambiance, the food, service and so on. Before you start to write book review, make sure you read the entire book cover to cover. Jot down the key facts, ponder on them for a few days, may be weeks. Try to relate your readers with you encounter with the book. Include details like how stumbled upon the book, what attracted you the most about it? This will make your review more engaging while building your post personality amongst readers.
Always include a short biography of the author and a synopsis of the book. This information is usually contained in the preface section.
The next step is to explain what makes the book worth reading. For example, how does the author conveys the emotions and sentiments of the characters better than other authors. By making the author and content stand out amid the rest, you highlight their importance.

What is the common thread that binds the story?
Does the author write formally or informally? Is the writing style suitable for the targeted readers?
Does the characters leave an impact? Are the sentiments well expressed? How convincing is the language?
Does the story conclude in the way that will please the readers?
If required, describe the book's format cover, photos, illustrations, if any?
What makes the book stand apart from other books in the same genre?
When writing the review, don't forget to include the title, author, place, publisher, publication date, edition, pages, special features (maps, etc.), price, ISBN.
Captivate the readers right from the opening line.
Know your guidelines. They may vary from one publication to another.
Review the book as it has been written. Don't try to impose your personal opinions on the subject.
Keep your target audience in mind while writing.
Your conclusion should sum up whether a reader should buy the book or just give it a miss. Never mislead the reader.
