Good Fats Verses Bad Fats - Why Does It Matter?

When you go on a diet one of the first things that comes to your mind is eliminating fat

. Right? Well, I would like to share with you some differences between good fats and bad fats. I know this must sound strange to you, and I understand! Because when you've been taught all your life that fat is bad, it's certainly quite a shocker! But if you keep reading, I assure you it will make sense momentarily.

As I shared with you earlier, there are some fats that your body must have in order to function the way that it should. One of those fats is called monounsaturated fats. This type of fat, if eaten moderately, adds great positive benefits to your health. It can also replace saturated fats and trans fats, which I will talk about shortly. Believe it or not, it helps to reduce your chances of ever having a heart disease. It helps you to keep your cholesterol down, as well as blood pressure.

The benefits of this type of fat is definitely endless. Foods that you can eat to keep these type of fats in your body, will also surprise you! It's simple foods like nuts (many kinds), peanut butter, peanut oil, canola oil and the list goes on. It's really worth it to learn what is monounsaturated fat. I shared some valuable information with you, but be sure to check it out for yourself.

Another type of good fat I would like to share with you is called polyunsaturated fats. This is another type of fat that is essential to your body. I like to refer to it as "brain food". Why? Because it contains Omega-3 and Omega-6, and both of these are important for the proper functioning of your brain. Also, both of these elements are essential for the proper growth and development of your body. This type of fat is also good for helping reduce your chance of heart disease, strokes and it helps to reduce your cholesterol level.

So far I've shared with you two types of good fats. Now, let me educate you on some bad fats. Let's start with Trans Fats. I will give you a few trans fat facts, and you decide for yourself. This type of fat raises your cholesterol level. It also increases the chance of you having heart disease and strokes. I'm sure you are thinking like I was when I read this information. It's exactly the opposite of the good fats!

As you can see so far, it is very important to know the difference between good fats versus bad fats. This information could very well save your life! It's important to know that another name for Trans Fats is "partially hydrogenated oils." So when you are in the grocery store, be sure to look at the ingredients of the foods that you choose.

Well, I would like to give you one more example of bad fats. This is a fat called Saturated Fats. Yes, you guessed it! Responsible for high Cholesterol levels, strokes and high blood pressure. You certainly want to make sure that this ingredient is not in the food you choose.

In conclusion, the next time you go food shopping, be aware of the ingredients in whatever your food choices are. I know that you thought before reading this article, when you saw foods with Trans Fats or Saturated Fats in them, you thought you were getting a great deal. Ask yourself a question, how much is your health worth
