This is because these vans are now available in styles that are as good-looking and as easy to drive as the immensely popular minivans that flood the roadways.

How is it that handicapped vans can now be found in such small sizes? Just like all other technologies, those that apply to handicapped vans have been shrunken down in size and made far more manageable. For example, someone who must rely on a wheelchair can easily find a van that they can get into and out of on their own, that they can drive, and that will keep them totally safe and secure in their wheelchair even as they might speed down the highway!

The vans still have large cargo doors that are mounted at the side or in the rear of the vehicle. These will allow the person in the wheelchair (of any size) to easily enter and exit the van. The doors are also usually outfitted with a manual or automated ramp system too. The ramps are never at a serious angle or steep pitch, however, because the floors of any handicapped van will always be dropped to a very low height. For instance, if you compared the floor height of the standard minivan with that of the average handicapped van you would find that there is a difference of roughly ten inches between them.

The floors of the vans are also where all of the safety equipment is mounted too. Just consider that the seat belts used to keep passengers safe in the event of an accident cannot deliver the same protection to someone in a wheelchair. Instead, these individuals count on straps and harnesses that will not only hold them safely in their seat, but also hold the seat safely in place too.

It is amazing and impressive to consider that a minivan-style vehicle might be able to contain so much technology and equipment, but they can and do. The modern handicapped van is incredibly stylish and good looking, but it is also remarkably safe and easy to drive, meaning that it can give someone the utmost in mobility.
