Situated on the ever diverse and cosmopolitan Long Street

, arguably one of the best representations of Cape Town's distinctively creative and laid back joie de vivre, is the well placed Grand Daddy boutique hotel. Even from the exterior, it is clear to the passer by that as its name alludes, is both an example of the caliber of Cape Town's luxury accommodation on offer as well as a quirky and well designed hotel.

Walking past the mirrored mosaic fish tank, reminiscent of a disco ball, one can clearly note evidence of the boutique hotels motto,"luxury shouldn't exclude playfulness". This is indeed evident in all of the little light hearted design touches, including work by some young, contemporary South African artists.

While the dcor is undeniably humorous, the brief of slick but mischievous decor must have been an interior designers dream and justice was undeniably done by chief designer Tracy Lynch. The rooms are a good example of top quality Cape Town luxury accommodation, with excellent finishes and features. All of the rooms are air conditioned with en suite bathrooms and offer the kind of value associated with Cape Town luxury accommodation. Unusual elements are found in the linen, which includes images of proteas, potjie pots and other well known South African icons. The lampshades are decorated with South African place names such as Pofadder and Polakwane but on close inspection are printed on only the finest linen, the Grand Daddy definitely doesn't compromise when it comes to luxury accommodation in Cape Town. The peculiar South African humor is celebrated once again in quirky ornaments, in this case in the form of origami sailboats made from South African maps.

The fine example of Cape Town luxury accommodation extends into the en suite bathrooms which are marble topped with only the finest finishes.
