Google Fonts Can Change The Way You See Your Website
This is why many websites always had to go with the safe bet, purely because if your website visitor did not have the font installed on their computer, then they would not be able to read your website. This was often the case with the older browsers as well, which put major limitations on the fonts you could use on a website.
This meant that many web designers started to use images or flash in the place of text, because they could use the font they wanted to without having to worry about the visitor not being able to see it. The limitations continued with this though, because if your website had the majority of its text as images or flash, then the search engines could not see it, therefore causing issues when it came to ranking your site in the search engines index.
Like many things, Google has changed the way that web site owners and designers can do things, with the "official" invention and launch of Google fonts a few months ago.
The theory and practice is really simple. You chose the font you want to use, add some HTML or CSS code to your site and off you go, which means you can now use the font you want to use without the worry of the majority of your visitors not being able to see your website in all of its glory.
This means that instead of the fonts being driven from your computer, they are now pushed to the browser from the central Google Fonts database, which takes any limitation away when it comes to using fonts on your website. This allows you to push any font that you see fit to the user's machine, allowing you to have your text displayed exactly as you want it to be seen, even if your tastes are somewhat weird or whacky.
To get started is really easy and it is literally a case of copying code over into your HTML and then applying it to your CSS, but any web designer will be able to do this quite easily, using the Google Font API, which really can transform the way you display your fonts on your website.
