Google Glass: Keep Innovating Guys

I read an article not that long ago in which the author talked a great deal about

the image quality on a photo taken by Google X founder Sebastian Thrun during an interview with Charlie Rose. This guy goes on and on about how the image quality of the photo was terrible and how Google used to make great products and now they push out half-baked products. I havent seen a bigger pile of shit since that scene in Jurassic Park.

Look folks, Google is an innovating leader in the tech space that will continue to push the creative envelope and take the company in new directions. What this author failed to realize is that the Google Glass project is still in PROTOTYPE phase. And even if it wasnt how on earth can you compare a 5th generation iPhones camera to a prototype? Lets not forget that when the iPhone was first released, it was a sucky telephone. It was a great iPod, but the service usually sucked, the camera quality wasnt the best, and there were a lot of things it couldnt do. Instead of scrapping the whole project, Apple did what any great product designer would do the continued to improve. Ill never be able to guess what drug cocktail this guy was on when he wrote that article, but hey, at least he gets us talking.

The Google Glass sizzle reel that we talked about earlier is great. If everything shapes up the way we expect it to, Google is gonna have quite the product on its hands. But its not going to be perfect. We know this. If this author would stop and think about it for a minute, hed understand that nothing is complete when it comes out. Thats the beauty of technology, we get updates, patches, new versions, etc. of the products we love. When you have a great product, you improve it and dont rest on your laurels. When you wait and wait and wait until its perfect, you end up with Duke Nukem. Had the game been released when it was supposed to, it would have set the record books on fire. Instead we end up with a game that no one cares about any more. Adobe Photoshop wasnt perfect when it was released, but people didnt sit around and complain on how a particular setting was missing. They used the product and as new versions and improvements came out, they upgraded and adjusted.

So keep doing what youre doing Google. Keep innovating, (and this goes without saying, but Ill say it anyway) and ignore those that simply wanna bitch about something. Because of you guys I can now find answers and solutions to things that would have taken me much longer 20 years ago. Because of you guys, not everyone has an iPhone. Because of you guys, when I do look for something, Im able to find things that I may not have thought about because of your intuitive search features. Keep it classy Mountain View.
