Some of you are complaining about instant search on the desktop. I don't have a super fast connection and it works great. There isn't any screen blinking just smooth typing with results showing below as you type. This probably uses a form of Ajax so it shouldn't have any effect on the type field. Besides, Google is one of the fastest websites because it is simple text being streamed to your browser (IE very little bandwidth needed.)
