I think it was yesterday that I did my normal routine of, while trying to be productive on my computer, googling something random to distract myself.

Instantly I was overwhelmed by a thousand things going on at once.

I can understand the idea of it being convenient to some, but it is a total turn off for me.I feel like google is sort of losing its innocence.Instead of waiting until I finish writing out what I want to search, here is Google selling itself out and showing me everything it's got.I can't speak for everyone, but personally I don't need to see the thousands of results pop up before my eyes of all the things that I am almost searching for.It seems that google has forgotten that we are sick of "Search Overload", as Bing would say

I will hit enter when I am ready; I thought that was a perfectly fine system.

This new google addition is reminding me of a part of one of my favorite comedian's stand up routines.Mike Birbiglia talks about how everything these days is also a camera.His phone, of course, has picture capabilities, and he also jokes about someone trying to sell him a grapefruit that is also a camera.He goes on to say that one would use it to take pictures of themselves eating the grapefruit, and they eat the grapefruit, and then they poop the pictures.

That is the problem with stuff these days.They are making things do too much and its all just getting overly complicated.At the end of the day, Mike Birbiglia doesn't want a camera-grapefruit, and I don't want google instant.I recommend utilizing the same retraction plan they did with the custom backgrounds that were lagging everyone's computer out:the option to turn it off.

For now, I will just have to resort to using the google search bar that firefox conveniently provides, and I suggest you do the same.If only blackle was actually as good as google, and then we could "save the environment" and have the old-fashioned google-searching wonder at the same time.Maybe we should have Al Gore try to work something out.
