Google On-line Jobs?

OMG! Google is offering online jobs! Are you googling "Google Online Jobs" because

you saw an internet post or a spam email somewhere telling you that Google is paying people to click links on Google? Do you really think that a $186 billion dollar company really needs to pay little old you and little old me to click links to make them look better?!

No, sorry, like so many other work at home options Google Online Jobs is also a scam. Click the link, pay the money and if you get a response at all, it'll be about the Google affiliate marketing programs they already have in place and are available to anyone free; programs such as AdSense and AdWords.

"Google is not paying people thousands of dollars a week to fill out forms or to post links," said Jason Morrison of Google's search quality team. "Scammers are using the Google name and logo without our permission, and we are taking whatever actions we can technically and with our legal team." Alison Southwick, a spokeswoman for the Better Business Bureau, said Google Online Jobs scammers use both Google and TV logos to gain credibility for their bogus operations -- and sometimes it works.

They used Google's name and logo with the come-on that individuals could yield hundreds of dollars a day by following their plan, which was sometimes advertised as being free or only costing shipping and handling. Instead, though, those who bit ended up watching their "low shipping and handling fee"or "instant access fee" leave them on the hook for recurring charges that could run from $50-$80 a month. To compound the predicament, consumers who bought into these schemes found it very difficult to get the charges to stop.

The sales offer appeared to be endorsed by Google, and showed pictures of checks purportedly written to associates from Google's accounts and used phony news stories. Snopes.com, that myth-busting web site, says the elderly, physically challenged and homebound parents are most likely to fall victim to the Google Online Jobs scam. Desperate for a way to make a living at home they may pay hundreds of dollars to get a "Google Online Jobs kit" from a fly-by-night web site.

Google has issued a warning to people thinking about purchasing a "Google Online Jobs" work from home kit. In a statement to MainStreet.com, the company says, "We recommend that users exercise the same amount of caution they would when evaluating other types of get rich quick claims. Our legal team reviews them and takes appropriate action if necessary."

The Google Online Jobs swindle is still going on. The claims, if anything, get even grander the more recent the case, such as this ad tease: "Learn How A Stay At Home Mom With No Experience Earned $107,389 In Six Months Just Filling Out Forms & Doing Searches On Google & Yahoo. Learn how to make $107,389 in Six Months."

If only that were possible. And if only people would realize that it isn't.
