Google Vs Yellow Pages - What's The Score?
The Yellow Pages has been with us long before most of us were born
. Now that the Internet is slowly encroaching their territory, the Yellow Pages wants people to know how effective they are as opposed to their online counterparts. However, the online people say otherwise. In this war between Google vs Yellow Pages, who is right? Which is better?
In their quest to answer these questions once and for all, Melbourne SEO services conducted a survey in the streets of Melbourne with questions like: "How do you search for products and services you need?," "What search engine do you use most?" and "How often do you use Google?"
The answer became clear once the results were tallied. A huge 53.85% of those asked said that they haven't even touched the Yellow Pages the past year, while a unanimous 100% said they used google every day. Looks like Google wins hands down! So what do the Yellow Pages have over this Google vs Yellow Pages war? Very little. This survey by Melbourne SEO services is probably the best marketing viral video they've done in recent times. So be sure to check it out and vote for it to spread the word.
Unfortunately for the Yellow Pages, this survey is but the tip of the iceberg. According to SuperMedia (the Yellow Pages of The United States), there has been a steep decline in profits for the year 2009. This trend will most likely continue for the following years to come as the Internet slowly takes hold of all information.
It is clear that in the Google vs Yellow Pages war, Google has the upper hand. If you compare, looking up something using a fat yellow book that squints your eyes or typing what you need then instantly getting the results you want, which would you prefer? Although admittedly, the Yellow Pages are here to stay, the question is, how long? There will still be users of the Yellow Pages, but how long will they survive? As long as there are people who still use the Pages, it will stay, but with the rapidly depleting number of users, the end for them is fast approaching.
The people don't care about how the two differ, how they work, their ins and outs, etc. What the people want is getting what they want, fast, simple and easy. With this, Google has the clear advantage. If you were to record the time it takes to make a search between the two, it is almost assured that Google will win all the time. However, if you are using an Internet connection that tuns at a snail's pace and what you are looking for is named "Aaron's", then in that scenario, the Yellow Pages win.
By any standards, Google looks to be the future of all things concerning information. Where the Yellow Pages was once king, it is now a distant second, even third place. If the future of books are threatened by the coming of the iPad and other technological marvels, what hope does the Yellow Pages have?
