Music has its own language

Music has its own language. It appeals to everyone who listens to it and delivers a different feeling to everyone. It is a language to express feelings and emotions and the Gospel is sung to express the feelings of a person towards God, it is an expression of faith in the religion. In the past it was just confined to the churches and every community had its own gospel which was not sung nor heard by any other. Today we are past those mindsets and a gospel can be sung anywhere and everyone is invited to attend it without any limitations. The live gospel performance on Tuesday is a perfect example of it where people from all over New York gather to hear it and praise the God.

If you may ask what is the genre of the gospel then it can simply be answered as the universal genre which is dominated by the vocals and a strong use of a religious nature in the songs. It is more inclined towards Christianity and is mostly sung in the Christian churches and congregations such as the Tuesday performance in gospel Harlem. The gospel music is believed to have evolved during the reign of African enslavement in the 1930s. During that time they were forbidden to pray openly and if any slave was found praying he would be tortured to death. Due to this they started arranging secret gatherings without having their masters the slightest knowledge what they were up to. As time was scarce they combined their emotions and their prayers to form the gospel.

The trend continued and it was a new way to pray which was liked by everyone in the Christian community. Soon after it came to light this new style was adopted by all the Christians of the world. Although it was mostly sung on the Sundays at the Churches but due to its popularity and the power to attract large gatherings the live gospel performance on Tuesday was also formed. This gave the Christians an extra day to pray and yet enjoy great music too. Now there is no restriction for any person who wishes to attend it. It does not matter if you are a black or a white, if you are a Christian and you like to hear the gospel, then you are more than welcome to attend it.

The Tuesday performance in gospel Harlem is conducted every week on a Tuesday at 12 pm. These gifted teens from the tri-state area are trained professionally by the masters of gospel. The moment you hear them start you will be infused with the wonderful spirit of the gospel.
