So you finally got that job in a high-rise building. You get to sport your suit, look pretty, have the air of dignity around you, you soon realize politics, gossip, etc isa game that was thrown in with your career advancement.If you are in HR, nurse, hair stylist, you realize, the peer pressure to be a player in the gossip game is higher than average. Maybe you even feel guilty for being one,younoticethe values you once stood for are going down the drain.

You thought having good morals was the way to move forward, but now you notice conceited gossipers, boastful co-workers are brushing past you at lightning speeds, so what do you do? Do you abandon what you were raised to believe was good and right, or do you follow the crowd

Hopefully you realize that you should stand firm for what you believe. I am far from perfect which is why I think gossip is absolutely devasting. None of us can ever exempt ourselves from making foolish choices now and again. But what we can do is stand up and say "NO" to playing a role in transmitting someone else's short comings on the big screen

I was once at girls night out with my colleague. As the night proceeded the girls started to gossip about women I did not know. It was my first red flag that went off. The women I was with were about 30 and over and Ihad considered them my mentors.As each moment slipped by I realized these girls who were tearing apart some woman I have not even met .. they could certainly not be women I can trust. I cannot fathom how betrayed the woman who was being discussed would feel

Maybe your next question is something Ibattle with, ..." you do not understand, I need to play this game to move up in my career, its part of networking, these are the kind of women that move forward, I do not want to be left behind".... its not always easy to do the right thing, but it does have its rewards. Respectable managers and other co-workers ... believe it or not ... notice these little things. Your reputation in the company is usually a lot better than what gossipers build for themselves. It might take a while, but be patient. I have most definitely started to earn my rewards where I work. It might have taken little longer than I wanted but its well worth it.

Intelligent, smart women should never have to sink to the level of gossipers. We are better than that. Resist the temptation to be part of the crowd and stand out.... :)
