What to Bring on Memphis Vacations
What to Bring on Memphis Vacations
Packing correctly can mean the difference between a good trip and a bad trip so for your Memphis vacations make sure you pack right. Choosing what clothes to bring can be a trying task for most; a good tip is to lay out your clothes and plan your outfit for every day of the entire trip, take with you items that you can use more than once and those that you can wear with other pieces alternately. The clothes will also depend upon the season; summer in Memphis can get hot so bring light cotton clothes, for spring travel, pack a waterproof jacket in case of rain, and heavy clothes for the winter months. For shoes, it is a good idea to bring a comfortable pair or two for walking especially if you plan to do some sightseeing and exploring, one formal pair for evenings out that you can match with any outfit, and for longer trips, a pair for working out. As much as possible, leave jewelry at home and take along only the essentials such as a watch, a pair of earrings for the women, and a ring or a bracelet that will work nicely with any of your outfits so that you can spend less time and effort in keeping them safe.
What not to miss on Memphis Vacations
Memphis is a city that is rich with history and full of wonderful attractions that make it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the South. Elvis Presleys estate Graceland is one of the most popular places in Memphis; every year it draws numerous crowds of fans and music lovers who want to get a glimpse of how Elvis lived and spent time with his family. The contents of the mansion have been preserved and are shown to the public as it was during the time Elvis resided there and the surrounding buildings highlight his awards and automobile collection. Elvis fans and music lovers in general should also pay a visit to the historic Sun Studio where music greats such as Elvis himself, B. B. King, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash first got their big breaks. Those on Memphis vacations should not pass up a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum; it stands on the former grounds of the Lorraine Motel where civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in 1968. The museum attracts visitors every year with its focus on the history of the civil rights movement and through its powerful displays tells the story of the struggles the African-American people have gone through from the time of slavery to the present.
