There are quite a few different styles of granite edges available. They can be basic or fancy edges. Basic edges include straight, bullnose or bevel. The most common fancy edges that you will see are the waterfall and ogee. But when choosing an edge the most important things to consider is your own personal taste. Choose a granite edge which you like the most, regardless of what others say. However, professionals do suggest some guidelines when choosing granite edges.

One of the most important things you need to look at is the design of the granite countertop edge. The shape, curves, and angles of the edge should match the style of other furniture and objects surrounding it. Basically, if the space surrounding the countertop has many angles, it is best to choose a bevel edge. Bullnose edges are best for conventional and elegant homes. Waterfall edges have three cascading convex curves which is elegant in traditional kitchens.

If you want to emphasize the beauty of the countertop itself, it is more advisable to choose a straight edge. Straight edges are simple with very minimal curvature and almost have a square edge. However, if you like the granite edges to be striking and noticeable choose an ogee edge. It has different curves and has a more detailed design compared to other edge profiles. Usually, basic edges are cheaper and inexpensive. Fancy edges have a higher price but have more intricate shapes and designs.

If you're on a budget and have decided to buy one of the discount countertops, then this may be a completely different material and you may have a minimal choice of edges.
