Grease Actor Jeff Conaway Died Of Major Internal Infections

The Grease actor in Taxi and Grease died on September 30 when his life support was taken off at Encino Tarzana Medical Center

. Conaway was publicly known to battle his addiction on drug and alcohol on Celebrity Rehab Center. Contrary to celebrity gossip that Conaway died as a result of his addiction, the autopsy reveals that he died from different contributing factors most of which are from internal infection. Coroner Craig Harvey said that the factors involve in his death is septic emboli, pneumonia, aortic valve endocarditis, encephalopathy and coronary artery disease.

Coroner Harvey said that they did not do a toxicology test on Conoway because he was in the hospital for two weeks before he died. This would mean that any test for all kinds of drugs would be useless for the result will come clean. The investigation on Conaways death according to celeb gossip took four months.

Before Conaway was found unconscious in his Los Angeles home, he had a history of addiction to all kinds of drugs, prescription and nonprescription drugs. Celebrity gossip had it that Conaway had sepsis and pneumonia at the same time recovering from surgery of the back. On May 11, they took him to the hospital unconscious and was placed in induced coma while he was being treated with pneumonia as well as sepsis which is a bacterial infection in the blood. From then on he was in coma until the time of his death on May 27 when his family took off his life support. Conaway did not seek medical help at that time instead went into self medication according to Phil Brock.

His friends remember how he struggle with his drug addiction problem and as a person who was interesting to talk to. Celeb gossip said that Conaway was making all his efforts to overcome drugs and want to be clean from it but his back pain was interfering with his efforts to do so.

It should be noted that Conaway was the second person who died after appearing in Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew, a VH1 reality series. Last March, Mike Starr who appeared on 2009 died in Salt Lake City. Prior to that, he was arrested because of the suspicion of illegal possession of prescribed medication. Because of his death, various messages were addressed to Dr. Drew Pinsky, a radio and TV personality and a doctor but there was no response from him. Appearing on his own TV show, he was very angry and quoted as saying the lax in the prescription of medications for severe addiction to drugs associated with chronic back pain like what Conaway had.

But then, his dependence on drugs was ruled out four months after his death.
