Great Build Quality On The Brilliant Iphone 4

If any manufacturer is renowned for producing the most eye catching and desirable mobile phone handsets, then it is Apple

. Their latest release, the iPhone 4 continues this trend in spectacular fashion.

In an age where handsets are becoming cheaper, the inevitable result is a lower build quality and an all round cheaper feel. The iPhone 4 bucks this trend by offering a handset that not only feels very well made, but incorporates some top end materials. The handset is predominately constructed from two glass panels that make up the front and rear of the phone. The initial reaction is that this may make the phone susceptible to picking up marks, and in the worse case actually breaking. This is no normal glass however, thanks to a special treatment it undergoes during its production. The result is a panel that is approximately 30 times tougher than plastic. To put things in to perspective, it is likened to the glass used on high speed trains. This is a major plus to most phone users, with many handsets ending up in a bag or pocket with other potentially damaging items. The antenna on the phone is no longer located internally, but now takes the form of a metallic band that runs all the way around the phone, between the two sheets of glass. This further enhances the expensive feel, whilst also helping reduce the thickness of the phone.

On of the stand out features on the iPhone 4 is the excellent quality display that is on offer. With an overall resolution of 960 x 640, the screen exceeds anything on offer from any competitors handsets and incorporates excellent technologies that all contribute towards producing an outstanding image quality. This "Retina" display is so called thanks to its ability to squeeze 326 pixels into a square inch, surpassing what the human eye can see. A very high contrast ratio means a massive palette of colours can be displayed, and alongside the excellent IPS system that is used, these colours have a depth and richness never before seen on a mobile phone. Viewing angles have also been increased on the 3.5" screen, however it is not all change. Tried and tested techniques from previous models have been included including the excellent pinch and zoom feature, thanks to the multi touch screen. The handset now also features two cameras. The main one on the back of the handset now produces a 5 mega pixel image with an LED flash and digital zoom facility. A new front facing camera allow users to use the "Facetime" video calling method.

There is no doubt that the iPhone 4 is a high end handset with everything from build quality to features set to appeal to even the most discerning phone fan.
