Great Internet Business Opportunities Abound - But Not All Are Equal

I'm absolutely fascinated by the internet. Who couldn't be? I'm not only fascinated by the business opportunities that abound on the internet but I'm overawed by the huge number of the genuinely good things that can be done with it. There's a whole world of great internet business opportunities out there - but they're not all equal and some are certainly better than others.

Recently I was having a hunt, as you do on a wet afternoon when you could be working, and chanced on a web site for an event that had taken place in north Hollywood. A group of people had gathered together and organised what they call a Frugal Fest. Essentially it was a swap meet where people could exchange clothes, media and other items for free.

I don't know what the flying distance is between LA and Auckland, New Zealand where I'm based, although I'm sure there's a web site out there that will tell me, but who cares? By the power of the internet I felt I was right in their back yard and I didn't even need to leave the room. They provided a link to the location of the big Frugal Fest meeting via Google maps. Heck, I could even see the building where they held the event along with the streets and buildings in the area.

The internet is full of really great opportunities and examples of how people are helping others get over hurdles in their lives and then to help others in return. It's simply amazing. Think of all the good that's been done when it comes to fundraising for non-profit organizations.

There are some special features about the internet that make it a particularly good medium for contacting others. Although I obviously use the net for personal and family reasons, my big focus these days is on doing business over the net.

I know some folk find it difficult to bridge the gap between the traditional use of the phone and fax to do business but, in my view, if you really want your business to move ahead you absolutely must get a hold of all the internet has to offer. Especially if you want to make money!

For me, there here are three key factors that make the internet such a fantastic place to do business. Here they are:

1. The internet cuts time and distance

2. There are 'rules' but no political boundaries

3. With the internet you can leverage your time - in a big, big way.

I've owned and operated a traditional business for over 30 years and I've had my ups and downs. I'm not saying that there isn't a learning curve involved here but I sure know a way to help anyone through it.

Personally I'm not ashamed to admit that I had to ask some dumb questions before I felt confident about some things but, once again, the internet helped. The amount of information available out there is staggering.

And, if you don't watch it, you can also find it all a bit overwhelming. With the help of some good contacts I certainly know how to keep it simple. That's the only way I can handle it these days.
