Great Prices On Land Rover Parts In Scotland Ready For The Winter
A prototype Range Rover has been spotted undergoing testing
, showing that progress is being made to put a hybrid version of the UKs best-selling luxury car into production.
It is still recognisable as a Range Rover, with the classic front end with a wide grille. The major changes are underneath. The vehicle is said to be constructed on an aluminium chassis, making it much more lightweight. However, the plug-in battery pack weighs in at a hefty 200kg, which would counteract much of the 450kg weight saving that the new alluminium bodyshell will bring to the new Range Rover.
The hybrid Range Rover will have a new powertrain; a 320bhp 4.4 litre diesel engine with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and stop/start facility. Also rumoured is a diesel TDV6 and 5.0-litre supercharged V8 version.
Rumours of a hybrid version began when a man walking his dog in Herefordshire spotted something unusual. He wrote: 'I was walking the dog and saw what looked like a Range Rover, with a van-type body without rear windows in an interesting zebra-stripe/urban camo paintjob. The front grille was blocked off and the light clusters were non-standard. It was being trailed by a standard Range Rover and I'm assuming it's a test rig for something. Anyhow, it had road plates and I ran a search through the DVLA, which turned up an interesting result.
Land Rover claim that the new Range Rover hybrid will have a CO2 rating below 150g/km, ensuring that it will make a huge impact on the luxury car market when it launches around 2013/14. With a full range of vehicles perfectly matched for the rugged terrain of Scotland, plus
Land Rover parts Scotland, Land Rover dealers north of the border are eagerly awaiting the launch.
Here is just a friendly reminder. The average mileage life span of a toothed belt (timing belt/cam belt) on your car is 40,000 miles, some before and some after, so make sure that yours has been changed to prevent your engine having to be re-built or replaced if it snaps. Be sure to visit your local Land Rover dealership to find out their latest prices on Cambelt changes.
