Great Things To Do In Gatlinburg Tennessee
This is a great family vacation spot
This is a great family vacation spot. If you like to have plenty of activities for the children, try staying in Gatlinburg Tennessee. This little town, resembling a German Village, is located at one of the entrances to the Smokey Mountain National Park. The park has plenty of trails, streams and waterfalls to see. There are plenty of great photo opportunities throughout the Smokey Mountain Park. During the warmer months you can enjoy river rafting and tubing nearby. Visitors can also go horseback riding, zip lining, or take a scenic ski lift or helicopter ride. While staying in Gatlinburg you may want to:
1.Visit Ober Gatlinburg. During the colder months Ober offers snow skiing, snow boarding, and snow tubing. Ride their chair lift up the mountain and enjoy a great scenic view at the top with a cup of hot chocolate. Ride the toboggan down the side of the mountain (year round weather permitting). This is really a lot of fun. Ober Gatlinburg offers many other activities and can be fun for the entire family.
2.Tour the Gatlinburg Aquarium. This aquarium is somewhat unique because of the underwater tunnels you can walk through. While walking through these tunnels you are surrounded by various tropical fish, eels, and sharks. This aquarium is one of my favorites. There are also several shows throughout the day as well as opportunities to touch the stingrays and horse shoe crabs.
3.Take a walk through town and enjoy the local shops, fudge and candy apples. As Christmas nears the entire town is decorated with Christmas lights. Watch taffy candy being made or take a hayride through town.
4.There is plenty of entertainment to enjoy in the evenings. Pigeon Forge, only minutes away, offers a plethora of shows. Consider trying out the Dixie Land Stampede Dinner Show. The whole family will enjoy the horse riding stunts, good music, friendly competition between the north and the south, and a really great meal.
5.If amusement parks are your thing, you may want to consider visiting Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. As Christmas nears the entire park is decorated with roughly 4 million Christmas lights and is simply breathtaking. You can enjoy riding roller coasters, watching crafts being made, or just relaxing for some live entertainment.
Of course there are many more things to do around the Gatlinburg area. I have only named a few of my favorites. For more information on family vacations or fun summer activities visit www.homemakerstip.com.
