Great Vacations In Canary Islands

If you are going on holiday this winter, there is a big chance that you are going to visit one of the Canary Islands

. Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are the 4 most popular, but you can also visit one of the smaller islands like La Gomera, La Palma or El Hierro.

These destinations outside the coast of Africa, have a climate that attracts travellers from all over Europe, especially in the fall. Almost every day have at least 8 hours of sunshine, and a temperature between 18 and 26 degrees throughout the winter. For the summer it's quitly hotter, but even then the climate is well suited for relaxing travels.

The two most visited islands are Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Gran Canaria with the famous towns like San Agustin, Amadores or Playa del Cura in the south are perfect for sunbathing and excursions. Tenerife with towns like Los Gigantes, Playa Paraiso or Puerto de la Cruz have maybe some more nature to offer, and here you can find the biggest mountain in Spain, Teide with it's 3.717 meters.

My favorite on each of the two islands have to be the small beach of La Garita on the east side of Gran Canaria, here it's hardly any foreigners and if you want to live the real canarian atmosphere, this is one of the best places on the island, black sand but a great life with some small restaurants and entertainment on the weekends.

On Tenerife you have to visit the town of Santa Ursula, just up the hill from Puerto de la Cruz. This is not the place to work on your tan, because here you will see not that much sun, but this is a nice place to get away from the noise you see in all the cities in the south. A lazy small town with some excellent shops.

Wherever you want to travel, and whatever resort you are staying in, don't forget to visit some other sites in these fantastic destinations. There are a lot more to enjoy than just the resorts and beaches. Rent a car for a day or more, and go to the fantastic nature up in the mountains or in the small places outside the noise from the bars and the discos.
