Yllas, Lapland offer some great skiing and for those that are experienced, the ski slopes in Yllas offer some of the best skiing in Finland. For those who have not skied before or who have done very little, Yllas is also a great place. There are two ski schools and the instructors are experienced, patient and brilliant at their job. There is nothing more daunting than trying something new and feeling a little apprehensive but the nursery slope is fantastic for beginners and promises to not only help you get your confidence but see you improve your skiing before the hour is up.

The lesson begins once you have hired your equipment and the trained ski instructors will take you directly onto the nursery slopes where it is quiet and you will be joined by other novices to ensure you don't feel out of place. There is a rope lift to help you reach the top of the nursery slope easily and before long you will have the hang of it. The nursery slope looks daunting to begin with but after an hour it looks somewhat less daunting and soon you will be cruising down at your own pace. The lesson will begin with the all important stopping methods and once you have peace of mind that you actually can stop at will, your confidence will soar.

The instructor will leave you after the lesson is finished and you have the option to go out onto the more challenging slopes or you may simply decide to stay on the nursery slope. You may want and need more lessons and that is absolutely fine but before you go you might want to have a try at the ski lifts. Ski lifts are also daunting at first but apprehension is only present because it is something new and challenging. Once you have completed a lift run, you will have the confidence to go again and before long, you will be an experienced lift traveller.

Yllas, Lapland offers lots of variations in the lessons it provides and there is the option to have a family lesson for those that have small children. This is great if children are reluctant to go off on their own, giving them the peace of mind of having a parent present. This is a good option for reluctant skiers and you can guarantee a good time all around. You may become an avid skier or a skier that likes the occasional ski, whatever you become; skiing is a great sport for all of the family.
