By the year 1846, the first greeting card intended for commercial purposes was introduced by Henry Cole, a British businessman. The introduction of multi-color printing in the 1870s sparked more creative and colorful greeting cards for a lot of people to enjoy. Then, many seasonal cards such as Easter, wedding and Christmas cards soon followed.

Manufacturing cards depend largely on how big the corporation is.Most greeting card companies who became successful in the business exerted much effort in business research, creative designs and marketing. However, no one can deny the negative effects of recent technological developments on the industry. The computer software and the accessibility of virtual cards decreased the popularity of greeting cards. These cards are available on low to zero costs that may be received in a matter of minutes.
