Ground Stabilisation A Type Of Geocomposite
Not many are aware of the geocomposite draining systems
, but the basic drainage system functions by controlling the overlying excessive grow-supporting material in a drained condition and supporting the principal mechanism for releasing storm-event runoff and preventing chronic anaerobic conditions and many other functions like escalating root-volume available for plants or including suitable prospect for introduction of irrigation. Ground stabilisation is also a type of geocomposite drainage and it proves to be important for large construction projects where the ground is needed to be stronger and the conventional method of clearing away the soil, transporting and dumping it has taken a new shape with modern technology. Ground stabilisation is necessary may it be road renovation, strengthening of dumps, and replacement of carrier layers or substructure for halls. It helps in reinforcing the ground so that it can hold high buildings and also act as an input to ecological evaluation of building projects.
Ground stabilisation has many advantages like compatibility with all materials like silt, gravel, clay, sand, building rubble, cinders etc., less construction time, proves to be an economical alternative and assures handling of excess load. Large construction projects impose stringent rules for ground stabilisation as a solid base is needed for stronger and feasible ground. It is mandatory for any type of construction, like railway tracks and railway drainage space because the foundation needs to be strong and not just clay soil as it may not prove to be wise.
Moisture content of the soil changes constantly which reduces the stability of the ground. The clay expands more in the wet season and it shrinks in the dry condition. This can be seen near ponds or lakes when cracks and shrunken appearance show an unstable ground. Many may not know but while building the basement, if the ground is not stable enough with a solid base, lime has to be added sufficiently for a solid base and to give a good foundation to the contraction. May it be railway tracks or space for railway drainage, ground stabilisation is mandatory.
