Groundwork Prior To Making of Web Design
Haste is waste. This proverb is very apt for the web design process. The designing of a website has to systematic and structured. A web site is the identity of the business in the virtual world of the internet. The website needs to make its presence felt and only then the visitors will buy the products/services offered by the website.
What preparation has to be done prior to starting the web designing?
Some of the key issues related to this are as follows.
Approach:
The approach of the web design process needs to be a long term approach. It is not merely the study of the competitor's website and copying their format or layout. Aping the competitors web design is not going to work for long. This short term approach could be harmful in the longer run.
Business objectives:
Web design process is subject to the nature of the business. The objectives of the business have to be studied thoroughly; especially what market segment is going to be targeted. The object of the business could be offering of services or offering of products or even just providing relevant information. The objective of the website could be even social networking. There are different layouts for different business objectives.
Research:
Thorough research has to be done especially with reference to the competitor's website, offerings of the business and finally the buyer preferences too. The conclusion of the research helps to design the website in such a way that the website becomes appealing and pitches for sale just like a sales representative.
Professional Thought:
A web design needs to be based on the professional approach. The web designer cannot afford to be emotional about the offerings of the website. The product or service that is most appealing for the visitor should be highlighted, not the one that the business owner thinks should be sold. A web design is an investment that has to generate revenues. This is not possible unless the web design is armored to compete with other website and equipped with tricks for generating sales.
Customer orientation:
The web design needs to be focused on the needs of the buyer. The visitor should not feel that the website is just like the sales man trying to sell of the goods. On the contrary the visitor should feel that his/her can be satisfied by buying that particular service or product. The website needs to be customer oriented not sales oriented.
Conceptualization:
After considering the seller, productsservices, buyer preferences it is time for concept building, also called conceptualization. Conceptualization is the last step prior to web designing in which the designer needs to prepare the overview or a rough sketch of how the website is going to be designed. The groundwork for web design process could take some time, but the website is assured of long term success and sure footing. There are experienced professional web design companies that offer customized websites and assure high returns on investment.
