Group funding, taking your groups efforts and goals to the next level

I have been looking for a way to fund the efforts of The Child Protection Community for some time. I even took a personal leave for a while to gather myself and figure out a way to fund our effort. Our goal was and has always been to help families find groups that were already in place locate resources, whatever they were, wherever they were. We started out by contacting advocacy groups on myspace and soon had our own 'donated" website. We began listing those partner advocacy groups for free on our "donated" site. This was a win win for everyone, the groups got free exposure, the families had an incredible resource to find help.I can not even begin to tell you of the memories and the stories. The long nights that come with the territory, not to mention the emotional toil it can have on someone.

The only problem across the board, was that funding was an issue in most cases for most of those groups, not just us. In trying to promote The Child Protection Community, and from what I gathered, it was an issue that held back so much of the potential, of so many groups trying to help so many families and children.

You see, to me and from talking and spending thousands of hours online and the phone with these groups, my impression of them was that they would do more if they could. Unlike the fat cat CEO's that are happy with a paycheck and title, these groups were not in it for the money or the fame. Trust me there is not enough of either to make it worth just that. It was correcting a wrong, making something right, ending an injustice.

They were the parents we see on t.v begging for the return of a daughter or son, they were the living nightmares we never want to find ourselves in. The horror stories we see on the news of corrupt courts, victims of their own lawyers in some cases. C.P.S. tried and tested worse case scenarios, plus so much more! Yet they were real, they had a heartbeat. They were real people that had been hurt and simply were trying to right a wrong or/and keep others away from their pain. There were even some that had just seen enough and wanted to make a difference.

You see it is not the size of the dog in the fight, but rather the size of the fight in the dog. These groups had more heart than a dozen non-profits that I can name off the top of my head. They were mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters. They were aunts and uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers. They were a community, and they were underfunded. I often asked myself if these groups had the resources to go after their issues of choice, and there are thousands. What difference could they make if funding were not an issue? I mean let's reason for a minute, if these groups had a way to get the fliers, the radio time, tv time, or even just working festivals and trade shows, what kind of difference could they make, on a local and national level? Would the stats still be climbing?

The biggest accomplishment is when I look back and see the groups that are now networked together as a result of our effort, and also the new faces that have become active within these partner groups.

The networking worked to some degree and it helped I would like to think.

I wish as so many do I am sure, that there was a magical bullet out there to "fix" the system. As a friend of mine once told me, "Joe, there is evil that walks among us" and I would have to agree. As long as this evil walks among us, then we must fight with everything we can find to push back and hold ground as we progress.

To do this, it is going to take funding, for any group to progress towards they're goals and get the publics attention it takes funding.

Or does anyone have an extra magical bullet?

This may not be a magical bullet, but it has the potential to be a game changer across the board, open to any and everyone!
